No, I was never very Victorian. I'm that John Watson but not that John Watson. My best friend's still Sherlock Holmes but we live in the 21st century, always have done and presumably always will with this detour aside.

A Victorian = anyone about during the reign of Queen Victoria, Queen of England back in the 1800s.

It was and wasn't. Travelling between worlds isn't unheard of where I'm from, though almost impossible to do. I can't say I had expectations, though if I had I'm sure this would have confounded them.
