His arm was torn off in a sort of accident. The world he comes from has little water, and no one could "waste" any on his wound, which even though I cleaned and re-dressed, is terrible.
Beyond salve, I could do nothing else but pick out the bits of grime. There were metal pieces as well, but they looked to be holding it shut as well as being lost in the swelling fester of it all.
What's worse is that it hurts him, and that he thinks he must bear the pain forever.
(Please don't let his appearance frighten you if you are put off by such things. He is strange, and strange looking, but he means well, and has done no harm.)
