BACKGROUND: the lowdown
INCENTIVE/FIT: Proving Moriarty was real and clearing Sherlock's name. Literally that's it that's all, John's a sensible man he's not big on believing strange tales from strangers about bringing dead people back from the dead so that's a bust but promising to do some digging and show the world that Sherlock Holmes was good man and consequently providing John with some closure and a future full of not having to deal with little arseholes telling him the best man he's ever known was a fraud would be something worth having.

As far as fit goes, you don't get nicknamed Three Continents Watson for nothing. You also don't stop dating women altogether after nursing a near-constant string of girlfriends in favour of romping around on adventures with the guy you shot a man for a day after meeting him for nothing, which is a signpost to one neglected avenue he might feel a little more comfortable wandering down more regularly in Eudio. (Sad angry middle-aged British bisexual man with a danger boner!! What an adventure!) Both of these things aside, John is Hurting currently, making a typically difficult man even less likable on account of a kneejerk reaction to shut down and Get Rude whenever he feels vulnerable, but he'll be aware of what the reward will be for Making An Effort and will do his best to not be an insufferable shit in order to earn that incentive because it's an important one, and the very last thing he'll ever be able to do for Sherlock Holmes. He's not at all shy when it comes to physical intimacy or going out looking for it though, so!!
